That’s okay, you’re not alone. Eating snacks that combine two food groups is the healthiest way to go, and the most filling. One tip: follow the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “MyPlate” guidelines for healthy eating, which emphasize fruits, grains, vegetables, dairy, healthy fats and lean proteins, and discourage foods high in sodium, saturated fats and sugar.
One key to healthy snacking is to eat before we feel hungry. Portion control is also a consideration. Another trick is to plan snacks ahead of time so we’ll have a nutritious, more satisfying alternative to the vending machine or snack aisle. Just remember to choose a low-fat, low-sodium, low-sugar snack that includes at least two food groups and you’ll be on your way to healthier snacking.
You really know your stuff when it comes to eating right. Keep up the great work!
